News Team Henselite Aaron Teys WOrld Champion
November 15, 2017

When Team Henselite's Aaron Teys won the Australian Open Singles Title back in 2015 as a 21 year old, there were a "small band of doubters", according to Bowls Australia "who reckoned it was a case of beginner’s luck". However the Warilla young gun has gone on to prove he can continue to mix it with the best, first by winning the Australian Champion of Champions in 2016 and, with his latest triumph, taking out the World Champions of Champions title at St John's Park last week.

"It's a great feeling to be able to say you are a World Champion,"  said Aaron after his win, "and to see some of the other names on the trophy. I would love to be as good as them and do the things they have done."

"I'm stoked to have the Australian titles under my belt but the World title tops it off."

Aaron had a slow start at the hands of fellow Team Henselite member, Derrick Oliver from Scotland. "He was unbelievable in the first game and got me straight sets," he said.

But Aaron recovered from that and gained some momentum, pulling out all the stops in the final against Dean Elgar from Wales

"I did not really do anything different but I was very nervous about 30mins before the final so my mate, Harley McDonald, took me aside to take my mind off things then relax and just focus on trying to come out all guns blazing and win the first set." That was enough to get him in the grooveand he pulled away to win the final and the title 12-1 8-4.

"The greens were very quick at the start of the event but rain came along and slowed them up a bit at the end. My Dreamlike XGs were outstanding in all conditions and on all paced greens. I'm very happy with them and the other bowlers were all coming up to me asking what they were and were impressed with the line of them."

Now I'm just focusing on trying to keep doing well and stay out of trouble and hope for the best.
