News Team Henselite Andrew Howie Completes ACT Grand Slam
June 7, 2012

Tuggeranong's Andrew Howie won the State Singles last weekend and completed his "Grand Slam" of all 4 ACT State Championships, joining the exclusive club of ACT bowlers to achieve this feat.

Andrew had previously won the pairs, fours and triples titles but the singles was the one title that had so far eluded him. "Winning the State Singles means a great deal to me." he said following the win. "I was beaten in the final a few years ago and was also beaten in the semi-final last year so it was good to break through and win."

In the final Andrew was up against West Deakin's David Templeton, with both players using Henselite ABT-evo. "I was quietly confident heading into the final as I was happy with the way I had been playing throughout the tournament," said Andrew. "The conditions in the final were what we have come to expect in Canberra - freezing cold, windy and raining. The ABT-evo performed great in the trying conditions. The very consistent and predictable line gave me the ability to play all the shots I required to win the title."

Andrew Howie was selected in the Australia A Squad earlier this year and this title adds another string to his bow as he makes the case for selection in the National Team.
