News Team Henselite Commonwealth Games Silver Medal for Mark Casey in Delhi
October 10, 2010

Australia's Mark Casey last night won a silver medal in the men's triples at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi. This was the second Commonwealth Games medal for the Queenslander who won gold four years ago in Melbourne in the same discipline.

Using Henselite bowls, just as he had in Melbourne, Mark skipped his team brilliantly all the way to final, showing more than once why he is known as the "conversion king".

The final agains South Africa was a tight fought affair for the first two sets with the Australians narrowly missing out on victory and going down 7-8, 8-7, 0-6.

Probably four years ago we didn't think we'd be here again today playing for another gold medal," Mark told Bowls Australia following the final. "We are proud, we tried as hard as we could, and that is all you can ask for."

With the triples finished and the pairs nearing completion, the men's and women's singles got under way on the weekend. New Zealand's Ali Forsyth who plays his club bowls with Taren Point in NSW will be hoping to go one better than his silver medal at the 8-nation test event in Delhi earlier this year. Compatriot Val Smith who is the current World Singles Champion will also be aiming for gold in her Commonwealth Games campaign. Both bowlers are using Henselite bowls.
