News Team Henselite Connie Hicks Medal for Noelene Abe
June 1, 2011

Last weekend marked another chapter in Noelene Abe's extraordinary year when she scooped the major awards at the Bowls WA Awards Night. Over the last season, among other titles, Noelene won the State Singles, Champion of Champion Singles, Mt Lawley Consistency Singles and the State Pairs.

"Looking back it's hard to believe you can achieve all that in one year." she laughed. "I can't believe it. I don't know how you can top something like that."

Noelene's unique achievement was recognised by Bowls WA when she was awarded both the Connie Hicks Medal for WA's most outstanding female bowler and the Penny Needham Brooch for the most outstanding country bowler.

Noelene switched her bowls over to Alphas 12 months ago and found that they helped her towards her most successful year ever." I love the feel of the bowl in my hand. I had no trouble switching to it. For singles players, particularly, it's a very good bowl. It's well suited to the WA conditions and comes into it's own on a fast green. They are as good as anything you can play with on fast green. I've been using them for twelve months so all my wins this year have been with Alpha."

Young Henselite Teammate Garry Lockett, also capped off a successful year at the awards night, winning the Rosenthal Medallist Medal for the most outstanding under 18 bowler.
