News Team Henselite David Holt - State Pairs Champion
October 31, 2011

Cabramatta's David Holt and his partner Michael Clarke are the new NSW State Pairs Champions after beating Tony Laguzza and Aron Sherriff (Ettalong Memorial) in the final of the 2011 Greater NSW State Pairs Championships, at Soldiers Point Bowling Club. The game was close to begin with, but the Cambramatta pairing were too strong in the end, charging home to take out a 19-10 win.

Team Henselite's David Holt was a Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist in 2002 for England before moving to Australia in the same year and taking out Australian citizenship two years later. Winning this State Title in his adopted home of NSW was a sweet victory.

Using his Henselite ABT-evos to win the coverted title he said, "It is very pleasing to win a State Championship. I have been in Australia since 2002. I won the State Singles in 2003 and since then I haven't qualified for a State Final. State Championships are one of the hardest things to win because of the qualification. Particularly in our zone, Zone 12. We have St Johns Park and Cabramatta with large percentage of international level bowlers at these two clubs alone. You are not going to win a Zone 12 Title unless you play out of your skin. There are at least 6 games in the Zone and then 4 in the finals so it takes some winning."

"It means a lot to me because I still feel as though I am playing at the top of my game. It's satisfying to still be winning those State Championships and it's satisying to still be cutting it."

David will be hoping ot repeat his winning form in the upcoming City vs Country for NSW top male bowlers, where he'll skip for the City side at his home club of Cabramatta from 12-13 November.
