News Team Henselite David Holt: The NSW Champion of Champions
December 4, 2012

David Holt, a Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist for Scotland in 2002, showed why he's still the one to beat when he won the NSW Champion of Champion Singles trophy last month.

Having won the State Singles in NSW in 2003, shortly after his arrival in the country he now calls home, David was very satisfied to take out another prestigious NSW Title nearly a decade later.

"I was actually really confident going into the final." said the Cabramatta Club Champion after the win." As is often the case with a lot of events these days with each game I get through I seem to gain a bit of extra momentum and get a bit of the form back from the old days!"

"In my semi final with Shane Quinlivan from Batemans Bay I got out to a great 10-0 and 26-13 lead before Shane really got into his stride mounting a massive comeback and at 28-26 I can tell you I was more than a little perturbed at how I could have let him get back into the game!! Fortunately I managed to finally get the last few shots I needed and was obviously delighted to be in the final."

"My final was with Matty Miles who, funnily enough, had been my third in the NSW City v Country series at Cabramatta a few days earlier so I suppose I had been watching him quite closely then to see if I could spot any potential weaknesses! In the end I picked up the rink from the get go and over the whole match was very consistent with my overall form which resulted in a convincing 31-17 victory. That said, Matt had played awesome throughout the competition and at, I think, 23 yrs old he will have a very bright future in the game."

"This win now qualifies me to represent NSW at the Australian Champion of Champions Singles in Adelaide next year and it will be my first trip to SA so am very excited at the prospect. That said I will be very focussed on performing at the very highest level...as opposed to sight seeing...as the successful Australian Champion then progresses through to a World Title event."

Also holding a Champion of Champions trophy aloft was Cameron Curtis of Roselands who used his Dreamline XGs in a win in the Club Champion of Champion Pairs.
