News Team Henselite Dylan Fisher wins Boys Singles at Australian Under 18 Championships
September 29, 2010

Victorian Dylan Fisher has been crowned this year's junior boys National Singles Champion after taking out the final of the Australian Under 18 Championships at Broadbeach Bowls Club on the Gold Coast today, making him the first Victorian to win the title.

A relieved Dylan Fisher, who is the current U18 Victorian Pairs Champion after winning back to back titles in 2009 and 2010, overcame immense pressure to win this afternoon's final. "Coming into the tournament I was, sort of, half favourite so there was a lot of pressure. And to do really well was really good."

Dylan won the final 21-15 and stayed in control throughout the game, despite difficult conditions. "It was very windy so it was tough," he said, but found that his Henselite Dreamlines were up to the task, showing stability in the wind. "I was very happy with them," he said, "they went well, so it was all good.

Today's play also saw some great wins by other members of Team Henselite. Australian junior representative Aaron Teys skipped his NSW fours combination to a 25-14 victory. SA's Breeana Dickson showed she's in great form, winning the pairs and securing a berth in the final of the singles tomorrow where she will meet WA's Kristina Krstic who staged an amazing comeback against QLD's Carly Griffiths to cement her place in the final. QLD's Elizabeth McKillop will be hoping to go one better than today's final appearance in the girls triples by winning the fours final which takes place tomorrow.
