News Team Henselite Geoff McGillvray Wins NSW State Triples
October 27, 2010

A win in the NSW State Triples at Soldiers Point BC yesterday marked the realisation of a long-held goal for Warilla's Geoff McGillvray. "This win was very special," he said. "It was my first time ever winning a state title. I have been runner-up a few times and made semi-finals but this time we finally cracked it."

McGillvray and his triples combination battled it out in an exciting final, evenutally coming out victorious 24-23. "It was very exciting," Geoff said. "We were in front to begin, then got behind and came back again so it was a good win.":

Geoff used ABT-evos throughout the event. "They are a good bowl, in the final they were consistently on their line. They were steady and reliable for drawing and weighted shots."

The state triples crown is another title in what has been a stellar year for Geoff McGillvray. He won the prestigious Dubbo Railway pairs and then, in August, won through the Australian qualifiers for the right to compete at the PBA's Welsh Open in January 2011. "I am really looking forward to that. I am hoping to win a few rounds, then see what happens. I'll give it a good go."
