News Team Henselite Henselite's Mark Jacobsen Wins QLD Open Pairs
July 30, 2010

Mark Jacobsen showed this week that he really is one of the best players in the world, making the final of the Pairs and Triples at the Queensland Open and the semi-final of the Singles. Not only did he go on to win the title in his favourite event, the Pairs, he beat the Australian representatives in each discipline along the way. This may have caused some embarassment to Australian selectors who recently controversially left him out of the Australian Team to compete in the Commonwealth Games in Delhi later this year.

“It’s been a great tournament,” Mark said of the QLD Open. “I made the two finals and a semi-final so you can’t ask for more than that.”

It wasn’t just Mark Jacobsen that enjoyed his appearances, however. The experienced Victorian likes to make sure that the crowd gets their money’s worth whenever he plays. “The pairs final was unbelievable, I got the Mexican-wave going, I was running up and down giving everyone high-fives…it was atmosphere plus. The MC said after the game, ‘Welcome to the entertainer of all bowls’. I enjoy that, I like to get the crowd involved.”

Mark, who plays his club bowls for Moonee Ponds, is a long-time user of Henselite Dreamlines and found that his trusted bowls didn’t let it down when it mattered most. “The conditions up there were rain, sun, quick, slow…all over the place. I really felt I had the best set of bowls for the carnival. I know what they do and I can just rely on them to do it.”

To win a Queensland Open final was very satisfying for another reason. “I didn’t have the Queensland open on my resume, so now I’ve got them all.” he said. It’s a trophy he’ll definitely enjoy adding to his cabinet.
