News Team Henselite Martin Miller becomes NT's Youngest State Singles Champion
June 21, 2010

Northern Territory's Martin Miller became the state's youngest singles champion last weekend when he took out the State Singles Title at Palmerston Bowls Club on Saturday. Martin, who turns 18 in August was victorious in the final, 25-20, in challenging conditions.

"It was very windy with afternoon breezes and the greens were running fairly quickly compared to what we have been used to up here so, yeah, the conditions were difficult," said Martin who uses Henselite ABT-evos. "I've only had these bowls for two months but they went really well."

Martin is already an accomplished young bowler having represented Australia at U18 level in the Trans Tasman series earlier this year. "I said at the start of the year my goal was to win a State Championship which has happened so it's very satisfying."

So what's next for the young champion? "I've got a few more club events coming up and then a few more carnivals so I'll compete in those and see where that takes me."
