News Team Henselite Noelene Abe uses Fusion to win State Singles
January 31, 2013

WA's Queen of the Green, Noelene Abe, won the WA State Singles yesterday beating Therese Hastings at Manning Bowls Club 25-19.

This is the second state singles title for Noelene who won her first in 2011. "I had a really tough opponent in the final, this time." she said. "The draw worked out that the good players were evenly spread so by the time we got down to the semi finals there were four really good quality players left in the draw."

"Therese Hastings won the title 3 times in a row, a few years back, something I think won't be repeated in the near future so she is a great competitor."

Noelene was using her brand new Henselite Fusion bowls. "I've only had them for three weeks, she said and this was the first time I had used them competitively. Now that I've won with them I think I will be sticking with them!"

"The greens were running at about 17 secs and during the final a strong gusty wind came up in the afternoon. That's when the Fusions really came into their own. They were so consistent the way they drew back into the wind on the narrow hand. I was down 8-1 to begin with but then when we got to 8-8 I knew I was playing well enough to pick up the points. I really felt like I was in control."

After her win Noelene will be having a break until Country Week starts in March.
