News Team Henselite Rice's Pairs Triumph at the Australian Open
February 26, 2012

Nathan Rice showed why he is one of the most experienced and respected Australian bowlers last Friday when he picked up the Australian Open Men's Pairs title with partner Leif Selby over Team Henselite young guns, Jesse Noronha and Aaron Teys. The winning duo took out the title in straight sets 12-5, 7-5.

“I would like to say well done to Jessie and Aaron, it was a great effort,” said Nathan after claiming the pairs trophy. You both played extremely well and you have a great future."

Nathan chose Dreamline XG's for his Australian Open campaign this year and was rewarded with not only the pairs title but a finals berth in the singles. "We had varying green conditions..quick, slow, tracky...with wind and even rain but the Dreamline XGs handled them all well. The Dreamline XGs were the most consistent and stable bowls I saw out on the greens all week."

The Women's Pairs final was a testament to the talent coming through the junior female ranks, and had to be moved as three of the four competitors were taking part in the U18 Singles scheduled for the original timeslot. It was an all-Henselite affair with Victorians Elise Cowan and Victoria Troster triumphing in a tie-break - 11-6, 9-8, 3-2 - over recently crowned WA State Pairs Champions Rechelle Cole and Kristina Krstic.
