News Team Henselite Sean Ingham and Ellen Ryan take home U18 AO Titles
February 27, 2012

Sean Ingham and Ellen Ryan have become the latest members of Team Henselite to secure an Australian Open Title when they took home the Boys and Girls Singles Titles respectively on Saturday.

Following in the footsteps of fellow Queenslander, Mark Casey, who beat Nathan Rice in straight sets to take out the men's title, 17-year-old Sean Ingham beat 17-year old Tasmanian,  Bradley Mabb in straight sets 11-2, 9-8 to win the only boys title on offer.

“I’m pretty stoked, it was my first year in the tournament it so I was just happy I did well." he told Bowls Australia. “I was pretty happy with how I played, conditions were really hard out there but Brad also played very well. I’ve been happy with my form throughout the tournament, it has been tricky in the afternoon as the wind has been strong when it hasn't in the morning, but today was the opposite. It was hot out there but the greens were good towards the end. They really quickened and it was nice to play on.”

Across the green NSW's Ellen Ryan showed maturity beyond her years, taking out seasoned campaigners Kristina Kristic in the semi-final and then 2012 Junior Gold Nugget winner SA's Renee McPharlin in the final, Ellen took out the first set 8-5 but was pipped 6-5 in the second. However, she steadied herself in the tie-break, running out the winner 5-1.
