News Team Henselite Team Henselite all the way in WA
May 2, 2011

Winning is becoming a habit for Team Henselite's Noelene Abe who won her way to the Women's Champion of Champions Singles Title last weekend. This completes her sweep of all the major WA titles including the State Singles and Pairs as well as the Mt Lawley Consistency Singles. This weekend's victory makes her shoe-in for the Connie Hicks medal for the top WA female bowler of the year.

Also held last weekend were the WA State U18 Championships where Team Henselite's 16-year-old Gary Lockett added to the Pairs title he won earlier in the week, taking out the Boys Singles. In the final against Robert Bell, Garry took the initiative early and raced away to a six-nil lead after two ends. But his opponent mounted a comeback to level the scores at 13 all. Garry then put his foot down and barely looked back, completing the game victorious with the final score at 25-15.

"I'm very happy," said Garry after the win. "I have worked hard training this season with John Goddard. John has shown me more tactical awareness in shot selection. It is nice to have my name added to the list on the trophy; a lot of current State side members have previously won this championship."

"I have previously won Club Championship Pairs, Triples and Fours. It is now good to breakthrough on a singles championship. I was looking forward to these Championships. It was good to come out on top in the Singles & Pairs."

In the Girls Singles, Rechelle Cole of Manning BC, put on a near flawless display throughout the tournament to make the final, including a significant semi-final win over Henselite teammate and current Australian U18 representative, Kristina Krstic. She finished the tournament with a silver medal, however, after a close final against Elizabeth Allan.
