News Team Henselite Team Henselite Sweeps Bowls Australia Awards
February 14, 2011

Team Henselite bowlers swept the Bowls Australia Bowler of the Year awards on Saturday night winning four out of the five awards on offer for bowlers.

Helensvale's Mark Casey was the man of the moment, picking up both the Male Bowler of the Year and International Bowler of the Year awards. Mark, who lists a Silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in his highlights of last year was pleased to be able to take home both these trophies in the inaugural year of the awards.

"To win the first award (Male Bowler of the Year) was a big thrill," he said. " But to win International Bowler of the Year, which is voted on by our fellow squad members was great. It's such an honour."

In the contest for the junior bowler of the year, where four Team Henselite finalists battled it out for the two awards, it was Victoria's Dylan Fisher who took away the title of U-18 Male Bowler of the Year over QLD's Sean Ingham. In the U-18 girls category, QLD's Carly Griffiths edged out WA's Kristina Krstic for the award.

Many of the finalists will stay in town for this weeks Australian Open, held at Darebin City Bowls Club from 13th-19th February.
