News Team Henselite Team Henselite Well Represented in BA Silver Tier Squad
July 12, 2010

Bowls Australia released its 2010-2011 Silver Tier Squad list on Friday, naming eleven Team Henselite players in its ranks. The Silver Tier Squad will be overseen by Head Coach Faye Luke and Bowls Australia reports that it will offer squad members access to high performance coaches and sports science staff, targeted monitoring by national coaching staff as well as tactical and skills analysis, lifestyle and fitness help.

Team Henselite's Kate Carriage (ACT) made the squad for the first time and the 2010 Australian Open Pairs Finalist was pleased with her inclusion and the opportunities it would bring. "I am looking forward to seeing what it will mean," she said. "Hopefully it provides an opportunity to grow that is not available to other players out there."

It's not just the access to additonal support that's appealing though. "To be selected in the squad does tell you that you have been considered for selection - that you are already in the spotlight," Kate said. "They already have faith in your abilities which gives you a lot of confidence."

Kate is joined by ten other Team Henselite members including fellow ACT representative Andrew Howie and, from NSW, recent Australian Team debutants, Terry Antram and Beth Quinlan. NSW state representative Shane Garvey was also named in the squad.

From Victoria, Australian U25 representative Dylan Fisher has been listed, as well as Commonweatlh Games Medallist Barrie Lester which means, as Bowls Australia indicates, he is "not far away from a return to national duties".

South Australia's Scott Taylor returned to the squad, along with Queensland's Sean Baker. Baker's compatriot Darren Mullins also received a Silver Tier call up and WA young gun Kristina Krstic rounded out the Team Henselite contribution to the squad.
