News Team Henselite Team Henselite's Golden Haul
April 20, 2016

Team Henselite’s Australian contingent at the World Junior Championships created history earlier this month with Ellen Ryan, Aaron Wilson and Aaron Teys collecting three gold medals between them.

Last year’s Australian Open Singles winners – Ellen Ryan (NSW) and Aaron Teys (NSW), teamed up to win gold in the Mixed Pairs with Ellen then going on to win gold the singles. Victoria’s Aaron Wilson also claimed gold for Australia in the men’s singles event.

Ellen Ryan matched the performance of 2015’s golden girl, Kristina Krstic, who also took home the top prize in 2 events. Kristina was unable to take up representative duties this year due to her university commitments so Ellen snapped up the opportunity to pull on the green and gold once more.

“Feels unreal... It felt like a dream when I won both. I thought Aussie Open champion was good enough but x2 world Junior champion is incredible”.

Aaron Wilson faced fellow Australian and Henselite teammate, Sean Ingham, in the final of the singles and was stoked with what he had been able to achieve at the World Junior Championships.

“I knew Sean was a class player and he was always going to come at me, I was able to get on top of him early and continue to apply some pressure and was lucky enough to break away towards the end,” he told Bowls Australia

“Sean is one of my great mates on the circuit so when we play each other it is always tough but I had to put that all a side to give it a shot for the title.”

Also in the medals were young Henselite stars Natasha Jones and Dawn Hayman who secured a bronze medal each in the Women’s Singles with Dawn teaming up with Aaron Wilson for a second bronze in the mixed pairs.

Australia’s medal tally at the World Junior Championships finished at three gold, one silver and three bronze.
