News Team Henselite WA and QLD take home spoils at Australian Sides Championships
April 12, 2010

With Australia's finest bowlers all vying for state pride, last weekend's Australian Sides Championships promised much and certainly delivered.

In the men's Alley Shield - powerhouse outfit QLD made it three titles in a row winning six of their seven games. "It was a great result for a great bunch of blokes" said Team Henselite member and Queensland second, Anthony Fantini.  This marked the 11th time the maroons have lifted the Alley Shield in the tournament's history.

In the Marj Morris Trophy, WA's women did not drop a match on their way to title. It was the WA women's maiden trophy win and a popular victory. "It was a big thrill to win," said Team Henselite member and WA third, Noelene Abe. "In WA we are not used to getting in the medals!"

Noelene Abe used Henselite Alpha bowls throughout the event.""They behaved  really well in the conditions over there," she said. "It started out quite wet and they still drew for me. The surface was tiff which is a wider drawing green but they worked really well."

WA took out the overall title in countback, the first time in history that this title hasn't gone to Queensland.
